Biography

Charles Allen has over 30 years of experience and specializes in identifying, documenting, and assessing building envelope and product defects a nd their relationship to moisture and mold problems. He has applied his expert architectural knowledge and cutting-edge technological skills to some of the world's most extensive and most complicated building failure projects, many of which span multiple construction industries. These include the 1.2 million square foot Orlando VA medical complex, Fairmont Raffles Hotels International Southeast Asia (2,000+ rooms), Disney's Grand Floridian $65 million building envelope refurbishment, The University of Virginia CAS and ITE building, and building envelope water intrusion issues at a newly constructed $40 million sports stadium.

Charles has provided expert witness or litigation consulting services for clients pursuing and defending claims related to moisture damage due to design and construction defects, property/casualty and builders risk claims and subrogation efforts. These include defending a contractor for a $20 million CCIP claim for an oceanfront high-rise condominium, defending the Architect of Record in a $5 million claim for water intrusion at a Florida visitor center/observation tower, providing expert testimony on a $5 million condominium association claim against the contractor for water intrusion failures at a 38 building resort, and providing expert testimony on behalf of the owner against the contractor of a 40 building student housing campus that experienced moisture and mold damage due to air infiltration through the building envelope.
