Biography

Donald Snell has over 25 years of experience with HVAC systems, including their design, cost analysis, nuances, and potential risks that often lead to failures. In cases where HVAC failure can lead to catastrophic moisture and mold intrusion, he is the first call for many building owners, building managers, attorneys, and insurance companies seeking to determine the issues surrounding these highly complex building failures. In addition, he is a highly sought-after mold and moisture expert who can speak about subrogation, cost analysis, remediation, and other financial issues for mediation, arbitration, and litigation. His host of analytical tools has helped to allocate over 200 million dollars in cost in some of the most complicated HVAC systems in the world. His remediation designs have helped some of the largest commercial builders in the world including NASA, Disney, Hyatt, Aloft, Wyndham, and others solve HVAC failures in their buildings.

Donald has served as a Forensic Consultant on forensic and non-forensic projects requiring litigation support, moisture, and related issues assessment, evaluation, remedial HVAC concepts, and life-cycle cost analysis. This included defending three manufacturers of 80,000 Hurricane Katrina FEMA trailers in Bellwether trials against formaldehyde and moisture claims, air leakage performance testing (blower door or tracer gas) in more than 50 buildings and FEMA trailers in the United States including Hawaii, evaluating condensation potential in more than 10 miles of chilled water pipe insulation in buildings and sports stadiums throughout warm, humid climate zones, and performed a moisture intrusion investigation into the causes of moisture-related damage at a Hong Kong Hotel and Convention Center and developed conclusions and recommendations.
