What are the best ways to influence the success of a project before you begin construction?
This graphic was adapted from the Manual produced by ASCE – “Quality in the Constructed Project”. The manual was produced in reaction to the KC Hyatt tragedy that killed over 150 people when a sky bridge collapsed. The findings were that the failure was one of process and not technical. LBFG has found that one of the best ways to influence the success of a project is to provide peer reviews early in the project (even before schematic design). Once a decision is made in the design process it can be very difficult to change. Certainly once that decision flows into construction, and then operation, it can become impossible to change the path of that project.
