Years after construction, the thickened edge of a building addition acted on an underground irrigation pipe causing a rupture. The building’s first floor subsequently flooded causing extensive damage. The excuse the GC gave was that no one had advised them about this hidden condition. What is your opinion of the standard of care for the GC in this situation?
